Race Relations Day

On the 21st of March It was Race Relations Day . Every year our school celebrates Race Relations Day. Race Relations Day is a day to celebrate your first language and culture . Me , Shanelle , Chloe , Manuela , Margaret , Limi and Robin  went up proudly and did a short speech in our first language .

Maths

Today my group and I did some maths . The maths worksheet was about integers . Integers are positive and negative whole numbers . I find it easy and a little bit difficult at the same time.  I am ready to learn about hills and dales. I like maths and I would to learn a lot about maths.

Science experiment

Today we did a science experiment . It was about making dye out of vegetables. We used the following vegetables beetroot , onion skins , red silverbeet , turmeric powder and lastly slices of carrots. As you can see the beetroot was the brightest colour . The beetroot showed up well on the towel than the silk and the cotton.

Rounding Off To A Tidy Number

I am learning to round off to a tidy number .  My problem is to round 524 to the nearest ten. My answer is 520. I knew that 4 is less than 5 so 524 rounded to the nearest ten is 520. It was really easy and I want to learn decimals.

Yazmin's Netbook Reflection 2013

I learnt how to download music on my netbook and learnt how listen to music while my teacher is talking . I learnt how to use padlet , padlet is a site where you write stuff on the wall and you can write about anything you have learnt and all. here is a picture of my padlet

I learnt how to do screenshots on my chromebook because at first i didn't know how to do it . I learnt how to do camera angles and zooming in and out , I learnt that from my teacher . My brother taught me how to download games on the computer . Mrs Grant taught the whole class including me how to be safe on the internet which is called cyber safety.

I learnt how to do comic strips and make it funny .

I have taught my friends how to do things that they ask me that they couldn't do and I would teach them. I taught them how to change the background on studyladder , put a callout on pictures ,
how to do screenshots and how to make a post on their blog.

I learnt how to comment on my friends blog this is something my friend wrote for me .

Still I am learning and I am excited to learn more on the internet.

Interview of a friend

My friends name is Jasmine Violet Makaylah Gage Campbell  . She is 10 years old . Her  favourite game to play is tennis . Her stunningly favourite colour is purple . The number of siblings she has is 2 - 1 brother and 1 sister . Jasmine’s favourite  weekend activity is playing games and going to her favourite places . Lastly her favourite rugby players are Ma’a nonu and Dan Carter .

Report on Seagulls

I am learning about seagulls

seagulls are seabirds of the family named laridae for short it is called laris.

Seagulls are typically medium to large birds . They have really long wings so that they can fly anywhere they like. Without their wings they can't fly or go anywhere they want . Their wings are really important to them because they can fly everywhere and find food for them and their babies too.

Seagulls have a beak which is really sharp and can also cut you . They have a beak so that they can grab the food. Since seagulls have no hands they have a way of grabbing things with their beaks .

I was upset because My dad went overseas.

The Sphinx - Ancient Egypt

What is a sphinx ?

A sphinx is a part of a lion's body and a head of a person. The sphinx was carved from bedrocks.

Why did the egyptians build them?

The egyptians built the sphinx to guard important areas such as tombs and temples.

A fact about the sphinx.

If you go past the sphinx it will ask you a question. If you get it correct it will let you past and if you answer it wrongly it will eat you and transform you into a mummies which is really scary.

I found the work easy to do. It was easy because all you have to do is choose a maths game and click on it and starts playing .

Yazmin at the beach

On a beautiful Saturday me and my 5 friends went to Mission Bay at 11:30 am in a shiny green van. first my mum and me went to pick my friends they told me where they lived and yeah we went to the beach.

When we reached Mission Bay me and my friends ran to the side where the sand was while my mum took out our towels and food.After a minute we got really bored and my idea was to make a sandman because it was december and it was nearly christmas and i wanted to do a snowman but out of sand so i thought of calling it a sandman.

Later we were halfway done cause we had to do the face and then we finished that was fun .

After all that we had to leave the sandman and pack up because my mum was waiting for me and my lovely friends to come home so there we went in the car. That was so cool and I wish I could go there again.

The Destroyer by Tomy Brodman Jonatronix

 Today I read this book, online . It was written by Tomy brodman . I was learning to make comparisons between the texts I read.

I am Yazmin.

My name is Yazmin San San Aung. I  was  born in Auckland, New Zealand Women's hospital and I am a Burmese Kiwi and I am 10 years old.

I am a muslim and I read the muslim  religious  book which is called the holy Quran.  My family is not that religious but my dad is because he prays 5 times a day as we are told to by our god Allah and my dad reads the Holy Quran everyday. I am the youngest out of my whole  family.  I have 3 older brothers. My elder brother is in Burma and the 2nd one is in Malaysia and my third brother lives with us and goes to Selwyn college.

My favourite foods are  pizza , chicken , chips , sandwiches and snacks. I like all those foods because they are very delicious.

My favourite colours are purple, blue, yellow and the beautiful colours of the rainbow. My favourite sports are swimming, volleyball and netball.  At school I want to learn about spelling, reading, writing and most of all I want to learn about maths because I am not confident in maths so I really need to learn that subject. Room 9 is a fantastic class because it is a lovely classroom and I can learn everything from my intelligent teacher, Mr Ramkolowan.
