Race Relations Day

Mr Hendricks is our principal and he is a South African . He was proud enough to speak in is first language and teach us some of his language. Mr. Hendricks talked about the war in South Africa.

Celia was very proud to go up stage and show off her cultural clothes she wore on Race Relations Day. Celia is a Samoan and looks nice with her Samoan clothes.

Reading

I am learning grammar. You will get a sentence they will ask you a question . My one was what is the pronoun they in this sentence :
Derek and his family come from England. But they like lowa a lot. The answer was Derek and his family. This was easy because I am very good at reading and grammar. I want to learn about inferences next.

Maths

I am learning  place value. You have to pass the rugby ball to one of the person in your team. If he catch the ball then a question will pop up and you will have to answer it. This is how I did it :
7,134 in which place is the four. four is at the end if it is at the end any number that is at the end is ones. The answer was ones. This was really easy for me because I have already learned about place value. I would really want to learn about making decimals into percentages next.

Race Relations Day

On the 21st of March It was Race Relations Day . Every year our school celebrates Race Relations Day. Race Relations Day is a day to celebrate your first language and culture . Me , Shanelle , Chloe , Manuela , Margaret , Limi and Robin  went up proudly and did a short speech in our first language .

Estimation Multiplication

I am learning  estimation. You have to estimate the question for 148 x 75 .

This is how I did it :  148 x 75

I rounded  148 to 100 because 48 is less than 50. Then I rounded  75 to 70 . This was easy and difficult at the same time because when I estimated the 75 into 70 I got confused  and thought it was going to be 80. I want to learn about LCM and HCF next.

Learn , Create , Share

Yesterday I shared my ebook with Sarah from room 8. I read it first to her so that she could understand.  . I helped her with some difficult words like jump, stop and tried.  I think reading my e book to Sarah is a big part of learn , create , share.

Maths : Sumdog

I am learning to revise my timetables. This is how I worked it out:

7 x  6  = 42

7 times 6 is 42 because I used my 6 timetables. This was very easy because I know my timetables. I want to learn about factors to solve addition next.

Maths

Today my group and I did some maths . The maths worksheet was about integers . Integers are positive and negative whole numbers . I find it easy and a little bit difficult at the same time.  I am ready to learn about hills and dales. I like maths and I would to learn a lot about maths.

Grammer : Word Confusion

I am  learning to put the right word into the sentence . This is how I figured it out .

I was sick for a week.

It is week because week means 7 days and weak means that you have no energy . The answer was week . It was really easy because I knew both meanings.

Science experiment

Today we did a science experiment . It was about making dye out of vegetables. We used the following vegetables beetroot , onion skins , red silverbeet , turmeric powder and lastly slices of carrots. As you can see the beetroot was the brightest colour . The beetroot showed up well on the towel than the silk and the cotton.
