E-asttle Reading

This is my e-asttle reading results. I think I did very well because I was above the National standard for reading. I did really well on processes and strategies because I got a 5P. I am very proud of myself. Next year I  will try my best to get a 5P/A.

E asttle Maths Nov 2014

On 30th October 2014 my class and I did the e asttle maths test. I was quite disappointed because I thought I would get a 4P/A but I didn’t instead I got 3A which is good because I got 3P last time.

How to make a Cup of Tea

Tea is a strong beverage that was made in China. Some people like to drink tea.

The ingredients that are needed to make tea are boiling water, tea bags, milk and sugar. The things that are needed to make tea are a cup, teaspoon and a kettle.

First pour some water into the kettle and start boiling it. Once the water is boiled get a cup and put a tea bag into the cup. Then pour the water into the cup. Let it brew for a few seconds. After a while take the tea bag out of the cup. After that put 1 teaspoon of sugar into the cup. Once the sugar is added, add some milk.

Tea is very easy to make. Remember this incase guests come over for tea.

In this game I had to find out the rule for the pattern and find the missing term for the pattern. I got 7/10. The hardest part of the game was the tutorial. The first one was easy but the second one was hard but after a few tries I understood it.

In this game I had to answer the questions that they gave me. It wasn’t that hard but there were some questions that I didn’t understand. I got all correct. I want to learn about Solving problems with decimals.

Cross Country

Everyday in the morning unless its raining we have cross country. We have cross country in the morning to keep fit. Sometimes it really hard to run 3 laps without stopping so I usually stop and take a walk then continue running. Running is good for your health because then you will have fresh air instead of staying in bed.

Character Study/Trait

WALT: analyse a character from the story.

Nets

Walt : Draw a net for a box.

A net is an object that is used in factories. I use a ruler and I had to make 6 square and 3 flaps. Then I use the ruler to fold the it all together. I glued 1 flap. It was easy there was nothing difficult. I think I need to improve on the box because there is gaps in them. I want to learn to make a net for a diamond.

Cooking Fried Rice At Food Tech

Today at food tech we cooked fried rice. First we had to fry an egg and we had to scramble it up. Then we had to fry the vegetables with the meat. After that we had to add the rice and soy sauce. Then we are finished. It wasn’t that hard.I want to learn how to bake cupcakes next.

RIP Robin Williams

Robin Williams was a famous actor/ comedian but it didn’t last long. Robin williams suffered from depression and committed suicide. Some people said that they found the body and they saw marks on his neck. He died at 63. I have watched some of his movies that he had starred in. I watched Aladdin which Robin Williams was the voice of the genie. Robin Williams was a really entertaining actor for me because he was funny enough to make me cry laugh. He had inspired me to start entertaining people like he does. An actor/comedian like him will never be forgotten.
RIP Robin Williams. You're in the hands of god and in a better place

Scale Drawing

I learned to use scale to enlarge my drawing. I used a scale of 1cm to represent 3cm. This means that my drawing was 3 times bigger. The task was queit difficult because It was hard to draw the tree and the cat. I need more practice on this topic. Next I would like to learn to draw a picture but with more details.

How Do You Think NZ Did In The Commonwealth Games

This year the Commonwealth Games was held in Glasgow. NZ was 6th. Even though NZ lost NZ only had 10 000 people to score one medal. England won by 174 medals but they had 300 000 people to score 1 medal. There is a huge difference. In my opinion I would rather live in NZ than England because there is more opportunities in NZ because there is fewer people. Unlike India which had a nearly 2 000 000 to get 1 medal. I think NZ was competitive and try their best to win.

Book choices for Junior Children

I chose Winnie the Witch by Korky Paul and Valerie Thomas for juniors because it has big pictures in it and less words. It was also the winner of the children’s book awards. This book would be suitable for Year 1 through to Year 5. The child can read it with the parent or they can read it by themselves. This book is about a witch named Winnie who is very clumsy and does magic on her black cat. Children will enjoy this book because it is funny and also entertaining

This game is called Sketch and Paint. This is an art programme. It was really fun to make the background. It took a while to make. It turned out to be magical because of the rainbow. This programme was recomended by my teacher.

Sports Retreat 2014

On the last week of school some of my friends from rooms 11 and 12 were chosen to go to St Kentegerns college for 3 days. I was one of the students who was chosen. When we arrived to St Kentigerns college we got into 2 lines. First of all when we got there we played volleyball. It was fun to play. At the end of volleyball Glen innes school won. After volleyball we had our morning tea. Later that day we played some intense basketball. We played against East Tamaki in the first round and we played againts St Pius in the second round. Then we all had our lunch. Our lunch was provided by Steve. Steve is the one who provides the breakfast at Glen innes and St Pius school. After lunch we practised some drills for netball then we played a game of netball. After a whole day we came back to school.

On the next day we had lots of fun. First we got coached for dancing. The coaches were from Les Mills. They were really good at dancing. After the dances we did we got really sweaty. After that we played more sports and the funnest game I played was dodgeball. At the last round of dodgeball Glen Innes school versed all the other schools and all the St Kentegern students. I was the last person playing dodgeball.

On the last day we had a lot of fun but it was really short time playing because we had to go back to school at 12:00pm. We really had fun with the St Kentegern student. It was really nice of them to give up their holiday for us. When we came back to school we wished we went there again.

One Summers day I was counting my money that I saved for 3 years. It all added up to $2 000 093. I was so happy that I had so much money because I could buy anything with over 2 million dollars.

suddenly I was thinking of what I should do with this much money. I was thinking of going to the expensive shops and buying some new clothes or new shoes. But then I was thinking of my family because they have been helping me since I was a little baby. I decided to give some money to my mum and dad because they are really important to me.

After that I only had about $ 1 000 000  but thats still a ton of money. I was thinking maybe I should spend a $100 - $300 for a family vacation. I definitely decided to do that. What I did was payed for the air tickets then we waited for our plane to come. We were finally off for a family vacation to Australia.

When we came back from my trip I still had a lot of money left so I decided to go on a shopping spree. I bought so many new clothes and some shoes. But then when I came back from my shopping spree I still had some money left.

Finally I found the perfect plan for my left over money. I decided to give it to the poor and the people who need this more than me because the things that I have they don’t have. Imagine if you were poor you would feel the same way. I also decided to keep some money in my wallet so that if I needed it I could use it because you never know if you really want something or need it.

Having money is bad or good its just the way you use money like if you gamble with money thats bad because after you have gambled you realise that you have lost a ton of money. If you use it for your family and needy things in your life then that is good. As I said its the way you use money.

At the end of room 11's item they did a dance to "I'm a Believer". It was really funny but atleast some people got up and did it. That was really brave of them.

Shiloh's group was skipping. They used two balls while they where skipping. Everyone was laughing at the end of their skipping because they were doing the action of titanic.

Dental Presentation

Today Mrs Wallbridge and Mrs Ross came to Glen Innes School. She talked us through the questions that room 11 raised. She answered my question which was “Why do people get ingrown teeth?”. She said that people get ingrown teeth because some people do not have enough space for the teeth to grow.

Once she finished with the questions she talked about the slide show she made about teeth. I got really anxious because the pictures of the teeth were really frightening and ugly. Mrs Wallbridge also showed us what will happen if people smoke. What happens is our teeth starts to get blackish and our mouth starts to rotten. I am surprised that we can’t drink fruit juice because it has lots of sugar in it, even though it has vitamins. Mrs Wallbridge said that the vitamins are not inside the fruit juice. The vitamins are just sugar.

Mrs Wallbridge also said that the enemy of teeth is sugar because sugar can give bad tooth aches and can make teeth go rotten. I told my mum and dad to not buy me fizzy drinks because it is bad for me. When my mum and I go Pak’n’Save next time I will tell my mum to buy lots of vegetables because I do not want to have bad teeth. I also told my mum and dad that smoking is bad for your mouth too. Even though my mum and dad does not smoke I just wanted to let them know that smoking can be very bad.

Walt: Revise division and fraction

I am revising my decimals and fractions because I need to know it off by heart. I used a figure it out book to revise my decimals and fractions. It was hard because I am still learning about decimals and it was easy because I know my fractions. I will try to do my best and revise it at home. Next I want to learn about literacy.

Tooth Tradittions Around The World

Tooth Tradition

All around the world, there are many tooth traditions and I really want to know some because some tooth traditions are  interesting and some are funny. Instead of putting your teeth under your pillow you could do other things with your teeth.

Malaysia :

Malaysian kids bury their teeth in the ground with soil. They believe that the teeth is a part of their body so it will come back to earth.

Egypt:

Egyptian kids wrap their tooth in a tissue and then they go outside and throw it at the sun. They throw at the sun because they are asking the sun to give them a brides tooth and take their buffalo tooth. A brides teeth is a beautiful set of teeth. A buffalo teeth is a nasty set of teeth.

Sweden:

Swedish children put their tooth in a glass of water. In the morning a coin will mysteriously takes place of the tooth in the glass of water.

Pakistan:

Kids in Pakistan wrap their tooth in some cotton and then they go outside when the sun sets. Then they go to a nearby river and throw it for good luck.

Burma:

Burmese kids take their tooth and then they go outside with their parents and they close their eyes and say a poem that goes like this

Mouse , Mouse wherever you are please take my tooth and give me back a royal tooth in return. Then they throw it . Their parents will tell them that the mouse will come and take it and give him/her a royal tooth.

Thats all the tooth traditions I picked . There are many more tooth traditions. My favourite tooth tradition was the Pakistan one. I liked that one because I like how the kids have to throw it when the sun sets.

Food Technology

Today the year 7’s went to food tech. Our teacher’s name was Mrs Tuipulotu. The dish we made was a pasta dish. It had fried onions, tomato, cooked ham and cheese. I worked with Lanu. It was really fun because I got to learn about cooking. I want to bake cookies next.

Room 11's Lucky Day

 

Today was Room 11's lucky day. We had some delicious cheesecake. It was so delicious I got so happy. I really enjoyed it.

This game is called rounding decimals. I had to answer the question they gave me and I had to put it in the nearest 1.It was easy and quite hard. It was hard because it was confusing for me and it was easy because I know how to round numbers. My score was alright I got more right than wrong. I want to learn about LCM and HCF next.

Comparing Decimals

This game is called comparing decimals. I had to use the crocodile mouth to complete the sum. It was quite hard for me because I am not good at doing the crocodile mouth and I am still learning about decimals. My score was pretty good because I got most right. Next I want to learn about geometry.

I am learning about the author’s purpose. I had to read a paragraph the game gives me and then choose one of the 4 answers. My answer was entertain because jokes entertain you. For every answer you get right you move up a level which they choose as money. The most amount of money I got was $4,000. Next time I hope I get up to $1,000,000. When I get another reading game I hope I get something similiar to this.
