We Need Mouthguards when Playing Sports

Walt: Write a persuasive speech.

A mouthguard is a smooth plastic or a laminated device that is mostly used in sports to protect your mouth from any oral injuries. The Dental Association has found that one third of all dental injuries are sport related. Mouth Guards are mandatory to rugby , football , hockey , boxing and also soft ball.

Mouth Guards help prevent brain damage. If you don’t have a mouth guard then when you get hit with a loose jaw then that will cause a knockout. Then your jaw will slam into your skull causing your brain to bounce around inside. That will make you lose your consciousness. Having a brain damage is not that fun because you will get hurt and you will not be able to do the fun stuff.

Mouth guards are not that expensive they are usually about $5-15 dollars depending on which shop you buy it from. Mouth guards can be a little uncomfortable but having oral injuries can be awfully uncomfortable plus it will cost you thousands of dollars and no matter how hard you don’t want to wear a mouth guard you will have to wear it otherwise fear the risk of danger.

Mouth guards are sold at shops but should also be included in children’s school list. If your mouthguard is too big or too small for you all you need to do is reshape it with a blowdryer or put the mouthguard inside hot water and once you take it out you can reshape.

This clearly shows that mouthguards are really helpful when it comes to sports. Mouth guards are actually useful for sports too.

I love your story about the mouth guards. I like how you tell us why it is good to wear a mouth guard and play sports. Do you play a sport and they have to wear a moth guard?.
