Compare and Contrast

Tooth Tradittions Around The World

Walt: look for information.
Tooth Tradition

All around the world, there are many tooth traditions and I really want to know some because some tooth traditions are  interesting and some are funny. Instead of putting your teeth under your pillow you could do other things with your teeth.

Malaysia :Screenshot 2014-05-30 at 11.55.00 AM.png
Malaysian kids bury their teeth in the ground with soil. They believe that the teeth is a part of their body so it will come back to earth.

Egypt:egypt flag.png
Egyptian kids wrap their tooth in a tissue and then they go outside and throw it at the sun. They throw at the sun because they are asking the sun to give them a brides tooth and take their buffalo tooth. A brides teeth is a beautiful set of teeth. A buffalo teeth is a nasty set of teeth.

Sweden: sweden flag.png
Swedish children put their tooth in a glass of water. In the morning a coin will mysteriously takes place of the tooth in the glass of water.

Pakistan: Pakistan Flag.png
Kids in Pakistan wrap their tooth in some cotton and then they go outside when the sun sets. Then they go to a nearby river and throw it for good luck.

Burma: Burmese flag.png
Burmese kids take their tooth and then they go outside with their parents and they close their eyes and say a poem that goes like this
Mouse , Mouse wherever you are please take my tooth and give me back a royal tooth in return. Then they throw it . Their parents will tell them that the mouse will come and take it and give him/her a royal tooth.

Thats all the tooth traditions I picked . There are many more tooth traditions. My favourite tooth tradition was the Pakistan one. I liked that one because I like how the kids have to throw it when the sun sets.

This game is called rounding decimals. I had to answer the question they gave me and I had to put it in the nearest 1.It was easy and quite hard. It was hard because it was confusing for me and it was easy because I know how to round numbers. My score was alright I got more right than wrong. I want to learn about LCM and HCF next.

Walt: Solve problems in multiplication and division that have decimals.

This game is called comparing decimals. I had to use the crocodile mouth to complete the sum. It was quite hard for me because I am not good at doing the crocodile mouth and I am still learning about decimals. My score was pretty good because I got most right. Next I want to learn about geometry.

A Poem : Teeth

I have bonesScreenshot 2014-05-14 at 2.22.27 PM.png
That are hiding inside my teeth.
It is not like
St Peters wreath.

After my bones
there comes my roots.
they are not stinky
like cowboy boots.

Then there comes my nerves.
There are quite a
lot of curves.

Then there is the gums.
that are light pink.
Boys don’t look at pink
because pink makes the boys wink.

Out of all the parts of
the tooth there is the
enamel. Don’t think they are
an arabian camel.

See you later
alligator. Don’t
forget your toilet
paper. I mean tooth brush.

WALT : explain the author’s purpose

I am learning about the author’s purpose. I had to read a paragraph the game gives me and then choose one of the 4 answers. My answer was entertain because jokes entertain you. For every answer you get right you move up a level which they choose as money. The most amount of money I got was $4,000. Next time I hope I get up to $1,000,000. When I get another reading game I hope I get something similiar to this.

Reflections - Basic Facts

Screenshot 2014-05-14 at 9.36.05 AM.png

Today I got my basic facts results for stage 6. My score was 574 which is quite bad for a year 7. I did well in addition,
multiplication, arranging the numbers from big to small and writing the numbers into words correct. I need to improve on my place value, subtraction, some on my division and on the symbols. I am going to ask my dad to help me on my division and place value. Then I am going to search up some math games to practise my symbols. Next time when I do my basic facts I hope to get 100% correct because I am a year 7 and I am not supposed to be at this stage.

I got 7 right and 3 wrong. It was a little easy because all I had to do was answer the question they gave me. Next I want to learn about punctuation.

We Need Mouthguards when Playing Sports

Walt: Write a persuasive speech.

A mouthguard is a smooth plastic or a laminated device that is mostly used in sports to protect your mouth from any oral injuries. The Dental Association has found that one third of all dental injuries are sport related. Mouth Guards are mandatory to rugby , football , hockey , boxing and also soft ball.

Mouth Guards help prevent brain damage. If you don’t have a mouth guard then when you get hit with a loose jaw then that will cause a knockout. Then your jaw will slam into your skull causing your brain to bounce around inside. That will make you lose your consciousness. Having a brain damage is not that fun because you will get hurt and you will not be able to do the fun stuff.

Mouth guards are not that expensive they are usually about $5-15 dollars depending on which shop you buy it from. Mouth guards can be a little uncomfortable but having oral injuries can be awfully uncomfortable plus it will cost you thousands of dollars and no matter how hard you don’t want to wear a mouth guard you will have to wear it otherwise fear the risk of danger.

Mouth guards are sold at shops but should also be included in children’s school list. If your mouthguard is too big or too small for you all you need to do is reshape it with a blowdryer or put the mouthguard inside hot water and once you take it out you can reshape.

This clearly shows that mouthguards are really helpful when it comes to sports. Mouth guards are actually useful for sports too.

Multiples of 2

Crazy Taxi
Walt : Revise Multiplication.

I am learning to revise my multiplication. All you have to do to play this game is to crash the car that multiplied by 2 or any number that they give you. You will also get a bonus track when there is no timer and you can’t crash the cars. This was easy because I knew my but difficult at the same time because it gets faster once you beat all the levels. Next time I want to learn about geometry.
